PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyester resin affording high-speed forming of a film having favorable surface properties. SOLUTION: This polyester resin is characterized as follows. The polyester resin comprises a compound (1) of at least one kind of element selected from titanium group elements of group 4A of the periodic table in an amount of≥3 to≤10 ppm expressed in terms of titanium group metal atom of the group 4A of the periodic table, at least one kind of bivalent metal compound (2) in the total amount of≥10 to≤35 ppm expressed in terms of the metal atom, a phosphorus compound (3) in an amount satisfying the formula 1: 0.2≤P/M≤0.5 [wherein, P is the amount (mol) of the phosphorus atom; and M is the amount (mol) of the bivalent metal atom] and the compound (1), compound (2) and compound (3) in amounts satisfying the formula 2: 2≤M(1-P/M)/A≤6 [wherein, P is the amount (mol) of the phosphorus atom; M is the amount (mol) of the bivalent metal atom; and A is the amount (mol) of the titanium group metal atom of the group 4A of the periodic table], respectively.
