PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manage both avoidance of knocking and improvement in fuel economy of an engine by realizing correction of a set compression ratio corresponding to the secular change of the engine in a spark ignition type internal combustion engine with a variable compression ration mechanism. SOLUTION: An ignition timing learning correction value set according to a knocking frequency state is read in (S101). In the case that the absolute value of the learning correction value is larger than a predetermined value (S102), the correction value of a compression ratio is calculated from the learning correction value (S103), and the set correction ratio is corrected by the correction value of the compression ratio (S104).
