A system for adaptively assigning a dynamic IP address and an assigning method therefor are provided to adaptively control an IP address lease time according to a remaining amount of address of an IP pool, to increase an IP address recycle rate having a dynamic IP address method, thereby preventing Internet access disability. An IP pool(22) stores IP address information. A mapping table(24) stores a load rate of a system in accordance with IP address assignment, and stores mapping information on an IP address lease time setup value. A state confirmer(26) confirms the number of IP addresses preassigned in the IP pool(22) and the system load rate. A controller(28) controls an IP address lease time according to the mapping information by the number of the preassigned IP addresses and the current system load rate, when an IP address assign request is received from a subscriber terminal, and assigns an IP address to the subscriber terminal.
