<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell with improved gas sealing property and water absorbing property. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell comprises a separator 5 comprising an electrode 2 having catalyst arranged at both sides of a polymer electrolyte film 1, a reaction gas flow passage 6 through which the reaction gas to be supplied to the electrode 2 flows, and a separation wall 7 collecting the current generated at the electrode 2 by chemical reaction; and a gas diffusion layer 3 arranged between the electrode 2 and the separator 5, diffusing the reaction gas flowing through the reaction gas flow passage 6 on a reaction surface of the electrode 2. A hydrophylic part 32 having higher hydrophylic property than that of an area E superposed on the electrode 2 is formed at least at an area D<SB>1</SB>laid on the neighboring area of an outlet of the reaction gas flow passage, out of the area located at the outer peripheral part of the area E superposed on the electrode 2 (A, C<SB>1</SB>, D<SB>1</SB>) of a lamination face of the gas diffusion layer 3. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
