PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a garbage treatment device easy in cleaning and maintenance. SOLUTION: A turntable 12, a swing hammer 17 and a fixed teeth 16 of the garbage treatment device 1 are attached to a cylindrical pipe 14, and they are integrated to be made attachable and detachable to a hopper. The inside part of an upper cover 21 installed to the opening of a crushing unit 11 is a dome-shaped space 24, and a baffle plate 26 for preventing garbage from scattering is installed between a water injection opening at the upper surface 23 of the device and the dome-shaped space 24. Garbage is charged into the crushing unit and then the upper cover 21 is set to carry out garbage crushing by rotating the turntable while feeding city water. After the treatment, the parts, which cannot be conventionally approached by a hand, such as the bottom part of the hopper 3 and the back surface of the turntable, can be safely cleaned by detaching the crushing unit, and the exchange efficiency of the swing hammer 17 and the fixed teeth 16 is bettered.
