PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To selectively use the air directly taken in from the outside of the vehicle and the air having passed a heat exchanger for cooling the battery, without relying on the air in the vehicle cabin, and further to recirculate the air from the battery chamber into the heat exchanger to cool the air more efficiently, and as a result, energy is saved.
SOLUTION: The cooling system 10 uses the air from the outside of the vehicle, without using the air from the vehicle cabin. When the temperature of the air from the outside of the vehicle is sufficiently low, the air is moved via a duct by a pair of fans and made to pass the battery assembly 12. When the air from the outside of the vehicle is too warm to directly cool the battery 12, the air is first made to pass an evaporator coil 30, and there, the air exchanges heat with a cooling medium, before being made to pass the battery assembly. The cooling air can either be recirculated by passing over the battery assembly, or can be exhausted from the vehicle via a ventilating part 46.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
