<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sensor manufacturing method which enables the fixing work of a lead wire and a lead frame without using expensive manufacturing equipment and the arrangement of the lead frame in an insulating contact member without releasing the coating of the lead wire even after the fixing of the lead wire and the lead frame. <P>SOLUTION: Since the lead wire 46 is connected to the lead wire connection part 17 of the lead frame 10 before the lead frame 10 is arranged in an insulating contact member 82 in the manufacturing method of a total region air-fuel ratio sensor 2, the lead frame 10 is not concealed in the insulating contact member 82 in the connection work of the lead wire 46 and the lead frame 10. Since the lead frame 10 can be held easily, inexpensive manufacturing equipment having a simple structure can be utilized and the manufacturing cost of the air-fuel ratio sensor 2 can be suppressed.
