PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting apparatus and a lamp socket capable of being easily and surely mounted, even if it is a thin diameter lamp. SOLUTION: A socket body 8, having a lamp pin contact part 16 for contacting by moving a lamp pin 15 at an end part of a straight pipe lamp 14 is in the axial direction and a guide 10 having a sliding guide surface 20 guiding the end part of the straight pipe lamp 16 so that the lamp pin 15 has consistency in the lamp pin contact part 16 in front of the lamp pin contact part 16 are provided. The sliding guide surface 20 is constituted to be retreated, by pushing the straight pipe lamp 14 in the axial direction by the lamp pin 15 in matching the lamp pin contact part 16 and is returned, by releasing the pressure in the axial direction of the straight pipe lamp 14.
