PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video display method without causing void and flickering and also without causing a frame delay in the case of a light control processing in a projection type video display device using a light valve and a light control element. SOLUTION: The video display device changes an image on the light valve according to an inputted image signal, changes light intensity to be made incident on the light valve by the light control element and has a memory 1014 which stores history of a light control parameter to be used for controlling the light intensity to be made incident on the light valve by the light control element and a parameter estimation part 1013 which estimates the light control parameter to be used based on stored history data.
