PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical component which is free from crack and exfoliation and has high reliability, by preventing tensile stress from acting on a light-transmissive optical material when bonding the light-transmissive optical material to a metallic holder. SOLUTION: In the optical component 10 wherein a part of the peripheral wall of a light-transmissive optical material 11 is bonded to a metallic holder by a bonding material 13, the bonding is performed in such way that stress which occurs at the time of bonding the light-transmissive optical material 11 to the metallic holder 12 and is given to the light-transmissive optical material 11 always acts in a compressing direction of the light-transmissive optical material 11. Since the optical material 11 is bonded in this way, the light-transmissive optical material 11 is prevented from exfoliating and cracking. As a result, the occurrence of abnormality in optical characteristics is prevented regardless of variation of an environmental temperature, and thus the optical component 10 of high reliability can be provided.
