PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat developable photosensitive material having high density, excellent storage property of an image formed by irradiation with light, silver tone and fog characteristics with time, and if necessary, to provide a heat developable photosensitive material having excellent image storage property for high temperature storage, or carrying property of a film or environmental adaptability, and to provide a method for forming an image. SOLUTION: In the heat developable photosensitive material having an image forming layer containing an organic silver salt, silver halide, binder and reducing agent on a supporting body, the photosensitive material is characterized in that: the silver halide contains silver iodide by 5 to 100 mol%; the organic silver salt contains 90 to 100 mol% of silver behenate; and the layer constituting the heat developable photosensitive material contains an oxazoline compound.
