PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrooptical device wherein reduction of the quality of a display image can be avoided by presence of a protective film while the service life of the device is prolonged by protecting wiring, electronic elements and the like formed on a substrate by the protective film and to provide electronic equipment such as a projection type display device provided with the electrooptical device. SOLUTION: The electrooptical device is characterized in that a first sealing protective film 501a to be a moisture non-permeable protective film is disposed on at least the outer side of an image display region 10a.
