PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roll clearance adjusting mechanism of an applicator, which has low failure rate, can realize control of a height position of a feeding roll with high accuracy and can fully correspond to fluctuation in product thickness and further can improve quality (depth of coating). SOLUTION: This roll clearance adjusting mechanism 20 is constituted of a regulation motor 5 which can forward and adversely rotate, a transversely feeding screw 6 which is rotated by the regulation motor 5 and is arranged in a transverse direction B, a slide block 7 which is joined to the transversely feeding screw 6 by screw connection and can slide in the transverse direction B by rotation of the transversely feeding screw 6 and further an upper surface 7a of which is a tilted surface 8, and an axis supporting member which has a travelling body 9 that is freely rollable along the tilted surface 8 of the slide block 7 at its lower end, has a shaft bearing for pivotally supporting the rotary shaft of the feeding roll 2 at its upper end and further which can move only in a vertical direction A in a state where movement in the transverse direction B is regulated. The height position of the feeding roll 2 can be finely adjusted by converting the movement of the slide block 7 in the transverse direction B into movement of the axis supporting member in the vertical direction A.
