PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treating system suitable for treating an unused bedding material for beasts. SOLUTION: This system 1 for treating the unused bedding material with dry steam to selectively dissolve, extract / separate foreign matters contained in the unused bedding material, thereby efficiently degrading bacterial microorganisms, drying, deodorizing and sterilizing the unused bedding material, and improving the absorbency of the unused bedding material, has a treating apparatus 2 equipped with a treater 22, a steam generator 5 for generating saturated steam, a heater 26 attached to the treater 22, a temperature controller 27 for controlling the heater 26 to keep the inner temperature of the treater 22 at a prescribed temperature, an exhaustion pipe 29 for exhausting the gas from the inside 22b of the treater 22, a control valve 32 for controlling the quantity of the gas exhausted through the exhaustion pipe 29, and a pressure regulator 36 for regulating the control valve 32 to control the inner pressure of the treater 22 at a prescribed pressure, wherein the inner temperature and inner pressure of the treater 22 are controlled to form the atmosphere of the dry steam.
