A fixed frame for a door or window has two sections (1, 2) which fit either side of the wall opening and with the inner ends overlapping. The frame sections are secured by the masonry fasteners (5) and by coupling means (3). The overlapping edge forms the locating lip for the door (7) or window. The frame sections have lipped ends which are set over the corners of the wall opening.
