The container for nucleation granules (9) has side openings (11) around its circumference, for water entry. The container is connected to a water line (13) and pump (18). This carries water containing nucleation centers for crystallization, down from the container into the colder stratified water below, towards the heater (7). Water from the upper, higher-temperature layers, enters the openings (11) into the container. Between container and heater, a protective shield (22) ensures that predominantly, hot water enters the container. It (22) deflects water from the hot zone, into lower openings (23) of the container. The shield forms thermal insulation between heater and container. The pump is a water jet- (or ejector) pump. It mixes water carrying nuclei from the granule container, into colder water. The line (13) has a non-return valve (17), preventing entry of cold water into the container. The pump is bypassed (20, 21). The container has peripheral water entry slots and a sieve (14) to retain granules in the container. It is fastened to a flange (6) of the water storage cylinder, or to a temperature sensor (8) carried on a flange. The water supply line is resiliently-flexible within the water storage cylinder (1).
|
