A rotary latch lock, e.g. for securing a folding rear seat in a vehicle, gas the latch (2) clipping onto a fixed catch (22) and securing the catch opening (21). A locking lever (3) is pivot mounted on a parallel axis (7) to the latch axis (4) and holds or releases the latch. A control lever (10) is pivot mounted on the same axis as the latch and has its movement limited by an extension tag (11) located in an aperture (12) in the lock housing (1). Another extension (16) of the control lever presses onto a control spring (17) whose other end is braced on the housing. The control spring provides sufficient pressure to prevent the latch rattling in the gripped position. The jaws of the latch can be plastic coated for additional reduction of rattle.
