<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can be used easily by both a handicapped person using a wheelchair and a sound person. <P>SOLUTION: A reader 5 at the upper part of an image forming apparatus body 3 and an operating section 8 on this side thereof can be moved horizontally and integrally. The image forming apparatus body 3 is provided with a motor 14 interlocked with the operation for moving the reader 5 to this side of the image forming apparatus body 3, and a pair of safety members 15 against overturning driven by the motor 14 through a coupling means. When a handicapped person 1 draws out the reader 5 and the operating section 8 from above the image forming apparatus body 3 to this side thereof manually or through switch operation (not shown) and motor driving, the interlocked motor 14 operates to project the safety members 15 against overturning to this side of the image forming apparatus body 3 and the center of gravity is shifted thus preventing the unbalanced image forming apparatus body 3 from overturning to this side. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
