FUEL VAPOR VENT VALVE AND METHOD FOR MOUNTING IT ON TANK

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a float operated fuel vapor vent valve for a fuel tank.

SOLUTION: The vapor vent valve comprises a valve body 50 having an annular mounting flange 68 formed of a material weldable to the tank 64. The mounting flange 68 can be spin-welded to the tank. A float 56 has an opposite surface to be put in slide engagement with the cooperative surface of a float chamber 54 for preventing the relative rotation of the float 56 to the valve body 52 during spin-welding. The vapor vent valve has a selective gravity operated pressure relief valve 88 assembled in a ventilation duct. It has a surface to be put in slide engagement with the ventilation duct 74 for preventing the relative rotation of the poppet of the relief valve during spin-welding.
