<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent incorrect judgement in the vicinity of a Nyquist frequency. <P>SOLUTION: This apparatus is provided with a correlation detecting means for detecting the degree of correlation of each of a horizontal direction and that of a vertical direction of a pixel to be interpolated in an image signal to acquire correlation values representing the degree of correlation, a correlation coefficient generating means for generating a correlation coefficient on the basis of the correlation value in the horizontal direction and the correlation value in the vertical direction acquired by the correlation detecting means, and an interpolation signal generating means for generating an interpolation signal on the basis of the coefficient acquired by the correlation coefficient generating means. The correlation coefficient generating means sets a value of the correction coefficient at a specific value if the pixel to be interpolated contains a frequency component in the vicinity of the Nyquist frequency in the horizontal direction or the vertical direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
