PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus and image processing method, in which color conversion processing can be easily performed with a small data amount and, versatility is improved. SOLUTION: A pre-stage color converting part 11 and a post-stage color converting part 12 apply conversion processing, using three-dimensional parameters on Ci, Mi, Yi in a four-dimensional input color signal, to obtain Co, Mo, Yo in the output color signal. A pre-stage Indian ink component converting part 13 and a post-stage Indian ink component converting part 14 apply converting processing, using a one-dimensional parameter to Ki, that is an Indian ink component in the input color signal, to obtain Ko in the output color signal. The three-dimensional and one-dimensional parameters are thus used to markedly reduce the data amount of parameters, in comparison with the case of using four-dimensional parameters. Furthermore, a four-dimensional color profile is used to easily create three-dimensional and one-dimensional parameters, thereby ensuring versatility. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
