PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mass spectrometer, capable of obtaining a plural kinds of spectra at one measurement and improving identification accuracy or the structural analysis of an object sample. SOLUTION: An sample introduced from GC1 is guided by a column 2 to an ionizing and trap space surrounded by a ring electrode 3 and an end-cap electrode 4, together with a carrier gas. In this space, not only thermion are discharged from a filament 5, but also laser beam is irradiated from a laser light source 6, and the sample is ionized. The ionized sample is held and stored selectively in the space by a voltage impressed on each electrode 3, 4, and is introduced to a detector 7 for each mass number, by the sweeping of a high-frequency voltage impressed on the electrode 3 corresponding to the mass number. By a combination of EI and PI as the ionization method, the ion trap space can be made an ionization space, and it becomes unnecessary to arrange the ionizing space separately, and most suitable data among both EI and PI data can be used for quantitative calculation with respect to identical sample.
