PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin-film substrate of two-dimensional film thicknesses, and a storage medium formed by uniformly immobilizing magnetic nanoparticle groups to the thin-film substrate. SOLUTION: SiO<SB>2</SB>films of the film thicknesses of order from 10<SP>-2</SP>to 10<SP>-1</SP>μm are formed, by using an OCD coating material diffusion liquid for forming the SiO<SB>2</SB>-based films into the respective spaces of a substrate frame 2, made of a material of thicknesses from submicrons to microns formed in a grid shape, thereby obtaining the thin-film substrate 1, in which unit substrates 2 composed of he SiO<SB>2</SB>films are arranged. A coupling layer, consisting of a silane coupling agent, is formed on the unit substrates 3 of the thin-film substrate 1 and thereafter, the nanoparticles formed by a synthesis in a liquid phase are adsorbed to the coupling layer, thereby obtaining the storage medium immobilized with the nanoparticle groups of the single layer on the respective unit substrates.
