PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically recognize the kind of a microscope or the kind of a power unit for the microscope without inputting the kind and to control the operation of the power unit by an optimum control parameter matched with the recognized microscope or power unit. SOLUTION: When the power unit such as a power XY stage 20 is connected to the control device 30, an identification signal inherent in the power unit is outputted by an identification signal output means 24 and detected by a detection means 32. A drive control means 33 recognizes the kind of the power unit on the basis of the detected identification signal and controls the power unit by a control parameter corresponding to the recognized kind.
