PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a raw material for a skin care preparation for external use using a lipid mixture which is lipids collected from an animal other than a mammal having a risk of infectious disease and has higher humectant effects on the skin and greater effects on treatment of atopic dermatitis than those of lipids collected from the mammal. SOLUTION: The raw material for the skin care preparation for the external use comprises the lipid mixture consisting essentially of a sugar ceramide extracted from a brain or a spinal cord of a fish of elasmobranchs of the class Chondrichthyes with an organic solvent, a phospholipid and a sterol.
