PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a workpiece holder capable of preventing, when assembling a first component with a second component to assemble a workpiece, the second component from being pinched between the first component and the work holder resulting in an excessive load applied to the second component even if the second component is large, and capable of detecting that the second component is large. SOLUTION: The workpiece holder 1 includes a holding tool body 2 for holding the first component, a movable part 3 temporarily holding the second component and movably supported on the holding tool body 2, and an elastic body 4 provided between the body 2 and the movable part 3. Although a load is applied to the first component when assembling the workpiece, the load directly works on the holding tool body 2 but not on the elastic body 4 when the second component has a normal size. When the second component has an abnormal size, the load works on the elastic body 4 via the movable part 3, and the displacement of the elastic body 4 is detected. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
