摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust luminance in response to external light by adding a light receiving element to an internal pixel circuit. <P>SOLUTION: The active matrix type self emitting display device comprises: a row of a scanning line 1; a row of a signal line 2 which is orthogonal to the line 1; a light emitting element 4 which is arranged in a crossing section of each scanning line 1 and each signal line 2 and which constitutes a pixel 3; a pixel circuit 7 for driving each light emitting element 4; and a light receiving element 5 which is arranged to each pixel circuit 7 corresponding to each light emitting element 4 and receives the external light. In the pixel circuit 7, when being scanned with the corresponding scanning line 1, a video signal is sampled from the corresponding signal line 2 and the light emitting element 4 is driven and light emission is performed with the luminance according to the video signal and driving of the light emitting element 4 is autonomously controlled in response to the light receiving element 5 and emitting luminance is adjusted by adapting to the external light. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
