PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent the illegal reproduction of pre-encrypted contents by an unspecified third party even if the contents are distributed to a client terminal. SOLUTION: In the content providing system when the client terminal 2 executes the decoding of the contents distributed from a server device 1, if the distribution of the license is requested to the server device 1 and the license is received from the server device 1, the contents are decoded by using a decoding key included in the license and the license is discarded.
