PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide new and improved system and method for focusing an optical pickup unit (OPU) on a label surface. SOLUTION: A system 100 for providing a signal to an actuator 128 within an optical disk drive and focusing an optics 114 on an optical disk 102 within the optical disk drive is provided with an error term generator 212 constituted so as to generate an error term, an adaptation coefficient 214 constituted so as to regulate a rate at which the error term alters an actuator control signal 202 and an actuator control signal generator 216 generating the actuator control signal 202.
