PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable enlarging residual capacity when the residual capacity of a recording medium becomes less, and to enable reproducing an original file so far as a margin is left in the residual capacity of the recording medium. SOLUTION: Copied information is set to a HDD 108 when data of a HDD 108 is copied to an external device from an IEEE 1394 part 116, when it is discriminated by an overwriting discriminating part 114 that residual capacity of the HDD 108 is a previously set capacity threshold value or less while new data is being recorded in the HDD 108, the propriety of overwriting in a recording region of data in which copied information is set is displayed on a display 110 with residual capacity after enlargement calculated by a recordable time calculating part 115, when a user specifies erasure of the data by an erasing switch 111, new data can be overwritten in the recording region of the data.
