PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanning apparatus stably deflecting a light beam independent of temperature variations of the use environment of the optical scanning apparatus, and also to provide an image forming apparatus provided therewith. SOLUTION: Deflecting mirror faces 651a, 651b deflect the light beam by being driven to rock by a mirror driving means at a frequency fD in a 1st driving frequency band DB1 where the high frequency side of a 1st resonance frequency band B1 and the low frequency side of a 2nd resonance frequency band B2 overlap with each other. Therefore, the deflection angle of the light beam varies to mutually offset the variations of the light beam deflection angles which are caused by both deflecting mirror faces 651a, 651b and associated with the variations of the resonance characteristics A, B. Therefore, even when the resonance characteristics A, B vary, the deflection angle of the light beam deflected by the 1st deflecting mirror face 651a and further deflected by the 2nd deflecting mirror 651b is stabilized.
