PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air cleaner enabling layout by utilizing an upper space of a cylinder head cover of an engine without increasing height of a hood excessively and affecting maintenance property of an engine ignition plug adversely. SOLUTION: This air cleaner for the vehicle is provided with a first volume part 21 arranged on a side of the cylinder head cover 6 and receiving supply of air outside the vehicle, a second volume part 22 having a flat shape on the whole, covering a rear part of a plug insertion hole of the cylinder head cover, and feeding purified air, and a locking means nipping and holding a filter element so as to direct toward substantially vertical direction and locking both volume parts. The first volume part has an air taking-in part, an air feeding opening part, and a support flange part F1 of the filter element. The second volume part has an air taking-in opening part, a support flange part F2 of the filter element, an air feeding part, and a cover covering part 22d covering a rear part of a mounting part of a plug 5 of the cylinder head cover.
