PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect atmospheric pressure based on suction pressure in the whole operation region irrespective of a load condition of an internal combustion engine without requiring an atmospheric pressure sensor. SOLUTION: Atmospheric pressure PA is calculated based on degree of opening of throttle and suction pressure PMO at one point P (O) in a period of time when a suction valve of one combustion cycle of the internal combustion engine is closed and amount of suction pressure change per unit time obtained by the suction pressure PMO at one point P (O) and suction pressure PM at point P (N) after the predetermined period of time. Amount of fuel injection supplied into the internal combustion engine is satisfactorily compensated by the atmospheric pressure obtained based on degree of opening of throttle and suction pressure in the whole operation region irrespective of a load condition of the internal combustion engine to maintain its satisfactory operation condition.
