PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape cassette which can be mounted by being positioned with a high degree of accuracy in a tape printer adopting either of front loading and bottom loading systems. SOLUTION: This tape cassette 1, which is composed of two upper and lower cases 2 and 3 different in height from each other, is provided with a common part 52 with a height T, which is formed in such a manner as to be vertically symmetrical with respect to a height-direction center line N of the tape cassette 1. The height T of the common part 52 is set to have the same dimension without reference to a width of a tape such as a film tape 17. Additionally, when the tape cassette 1 is mounted on a cassette mounting part X, the pin holes 53 and 54, into which two positioning pins 72 and 73 erecting from the cassette mounting part X are to be inserted and fitted, are provided in the common part 52 of the tape cassette 1 in a vertically symmetrical manner.
