The present invention relates to a method and a system for providing geographical information using a mobile communication terminal which provides a scroll function. In particular, in case of providing a user with a map image by a scroll method, the above map image can be scrolled according to the geographical information. A method for providing geographical information using a mobile communication terminal which provides a scroll function according to the present invention comprises the steps of: receiving the corresponding geographical information data from the departure to the destination point through a detect server and map data related to the above geographical information; receiving a prescribed scroll order from a user; generating a map image from the above geographical information and map data based on a prescribed base station of the above geographical information according to the above scroll order; and displaying the generated map image on the screen of the above mobile communication terminal. The step of generating a map image includes the first step wherein if the scroll order is inputted, the base position is moved as far as a unit distance according to the geographical information; and the second step of generating a map image from the geographical information data and the map data based on the moved base station.
