<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can perform the rotation control of a photosensitive drum equivalent to that in the case of the use of a high-precision high-resolution encoder even if a low-priced encoder is used. <P>SOLUTION: This apparatus transmits the rotation of a drive motor 300 to the photosensitive drum 302 by a timing belt 301. A large-diameter gear 104 in a gear speed reducing mechanism and a small-diameter gear 105 are arranged on the rotating shaft of the photosensitive drum, and an angle detector 106 is attached to the rotating shaft. The angle detector 106 rotates at an angular velocity N times the photosensitive drum 302. Since pulses of the number corresponding to the rotating angle is outputted from the angle detector 106, this can detect the rotational angle of the photosensitive drum by measuring the number of pulses by a detector 107. A high-precision angular sensor 303 is attached to the rotating shaft of the photosensitive drum at assembling, and a pulse-integrated value to the rotational angle of the angle detector 106 is measured in advance, and nonlinear components are stored beforehand in a memory 110 for correction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
