PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible for a user to perform backup processing suitable for data characteristics relating to backup target data by a simple method. SOLUTION: Data characteristic classification definition information where data characteristic ID is associated with each of one or more data characteristic kinds and mapping information where backup destination server information is associated with each of one or more data characteristic ID are prepared. A backup origin server 3 sets data characteristic ID in each backup target file based on the meta data of the designated backup target file and the data characteristic classification definition information, and decides backup destination servers 6A to 6C of each backup target file based on the set data characteristic ID and the mapping information, and transmits each backup target file to the decided servers 6A to 6C.
