PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized display device which enables a desired image to be observed in either state of eye contact and eye non-contact. SOLUTION: The small-sized display device consists of: a small-sized display element 1 for displaying an image with an electric signal; an optical element 2 for magnifying the image of the small-sized display element 1; a dimming sheet 23 which can be switched to a transparent state and a semitransparent state; an eye contact discriminating sensor 10 for discriminating eye contact or eye non-contact; and an information processor 4. The information processor controls a method of displaying the image on the small-sized display element 1, including control of switching between the transparent state and the semitransparent state of the dimming sheet 23 on the basis of the output of the eye contact discriminating sensor 10.
