PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an acetylenic polymer applicable to a use for an electric/electronic material or a medicinal material, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The acetylenic polymer is obtained by polymerizing an acetylene compound having a substituent in the presence of a rhodium metal complex catalyst, wherein a rhodium content is not more than 1,000 ppm. The method for producing the acetylenic polymer comprises polymerizing the acetylene compound having the substituent in the presence of the rhodium metal complex catalyst to obtain the crude acetylenic polymer, and then purifying the acetylenic polymer with a solvent.
