A steam cooking apparatus and a control method thereof are provided to generate steam in a short time with small energy by supplying the optimum amount of water to a steam generation part via temperature of water remaining in the steam generation part and the water volume. A steam cooking apparatus comprises a steam generation part(20) receiving water, generating steam by heating devices(22,23), and supplying the steam to a cooking chamber(11); a temperature-sensing device sensing the temperature of water remaining in the steam generation part; a control part controlling the supply amount of the water supplied to the steam generation part to prevent the temperature sensed from the temperature-sensing device from being lowered than predetermined temperature; and a water supply part(32) including a flow control device(37) to be controlled by the control part and supplying water to the steam generation part. |
