A circuit for controlling a character display and an integrated circuit thereof are provided to increase display colors of an OSD(On Screen Display) without extending the scale of a circuit. A circuit for controlling a character display comprises a selection circuit(50), a holding circuit(20) and a selection controlling circuit(40). The selection circuit selects and outputs as one among R, G, and B signals one among a first voltage, a second voltage smaller than the first voltage, and at least one third voltage between the first voltage and the second voltage. The holding circuit sets a first data having a plurality of bits to enable the selection circuit to select and output one among the first voltage, the second voltage and the third voltage, according to a display timing of characters. The selection controlling circuit provides the selection circuit with a selection signal to select and output one among the first voltage, the second voltage and the third voltage, based on the first data, a second data corresponding to the first voltage or the second voltage, and a third data indicating whether the third voltage exists. |
