LEATHER-LIKE SHEET AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCTION THEREOF

A leather-like sheet which comprises a substrate containing rovings of ultrafine-denier fibers, characterized in that the substrate is composed of (1) the first substrate layer having a structure which is constituted of a polymeric elastomer and rovings of ultrafine-denier fibers and in which the polymeric elastomer surrounds the peripheries of the rovings but is absent inside the rovings and (2) (i) the second substrate layer (A) constituted of rovings of ultrafine-denier fibers or (ii) the second substrate layer (B) having a structure which is constituted of a polymeric elastomer and rovings of ultrafine-denier fibers and in which the polymeric elastomer surrounds the peripheries of the rovings but is absent inside the rovings and the polymeric elastomer surrounding the peripheries of the rovings has a large void area and that in the first and second substrate layers, the structure changes continuously along the direction of thickness of the substrate.
