A traffic control apparatus is provided to reduce traffic jam by collecting traffic information at cross sections by using a short infrared reflective sensor and transmitting the collected traffic information to a traffic management center. A traffic control apparatus includes an information collector(10), a sensor(20), and a progress indicator(30). The information collector(10) is implemented on road sides at cross sections. The information collector(10) is in communication with a traffic management center(2) via an optical cable data line. The sensor(20) is electrically connected to the information collector(10) and includes a short infrared reflective sensor at a front portion thereof. The sensors(20) are implemented at edge rocks which are implemented from a cross point, which is a temporary end point of a progress line, with a constant spacing from each other. The progress indicator(30) is electrically connected to the information collector(10) and selectively emits red, yellow, and blue lights at a corner thereof. The progress indicators(30) are implemented at edge rocks which are implemented from another cross point, which is a new start point of the progress line, with a constant spacing from each other. |
