A heating and cooling system is provided to reduce power consumption by reducing capacity of a heat generating element by sufficiently heating a first containing chamber. A heating and cooling system(100) has a first containing chamber(5) containing an object to be heated and a second containing chamber(7) containing an object to be cooled. A refrigerant circuit(20) is formed by connecting a compressor(10), a gas cooler(12), a capillary tube(14) and an evaporator(16) sequentially in a circular shape by pipes, wherein the refrigerant circuit uses carbon dioxide. The first containing chamber is heated by the gas cooler while cooling the second containing chamber by the evaporator.
