An automatic parking brake control device of an automatic transmission vehicle capable of coasting and emergency stopping is provided to reduce operation fatigue of drivers by automatically operating or releasing a parking brake as the vehicle stops or parks. In an automatic parking brake control device having general and emergency modes of a parking brake control function for an automatic transmission vehicle, a parking brake control method is composed of a stop judging step(11) for deciding whether a selection lever is in a P or N position and vehicle speed is 0km/h, by searching signals of an inhibitor switch and a vehicle speed sensor for a general mode; a motor driving step(12); a braking step(13) for automatically operating the parking brake by the driving of the motor; a motor fixing step(14) for preventing the motor from being moved; a traveling judging step(15) for deciding whether the position of the selection lever is changed by a manual operation of a drive; a motor releasing step(16); a re-driving step(17) for braking the motor reversely; and a brake releasing step(18) for automatically releasing the parking brake by re-driving of the motor.
