A highly sensitive and highly durable electrophotographic photoconductor comprises a photoconductive layer on a conductive support, the photoconductive layer containing an azo compound having a coupler residue. Also disclosed are an electrophotographic method, electrophotographic apparatus and process cartridge for the electrophotographic apparatus which is practical for a high-speed copying machine as well as for a laser printer.
