An electromagnetic locking differential device is provided to allow for an accurate differential velocity control by locking or unlocking the differential device through the use of the motion of a movable electromagnet. An electromagnetic locking differential device(26) comprises a case(40), a pair of pinion gears(42), a first side gear(45) and a second side gear(46), and an electromagnetically driving unit. The case has an internal space, and a groove connected to the internal space. The pinion gears are disposed in the internal space, and connected to the case such that the pinion gears are rotatable. The first side gear and the second side gear are engaged with the pinion gears in the internal space, and connected to the case such that the first and second side gears are rotatable. The electromagnetically driving unit includes a coil(96) which moves between an engaged condition and a disengaged condition in the groove. The case is dynamically coupled to the first side gear when the coil is in the engaged condition.
