A coaxial connector with a positive stop is provided to ensure proper compression force by correctly installing the connector without use of a torque wrench. A coaxial connector includes a clamping nut(10), a circular coil spring(30), and a positive stop. The clamping nut is adapted to fit over an outer conductor(20) and has threads(25) combined with corresponding threads on a connector body(35). The circular coil spring is adapted to fit over a flared leading edge(26) of the outer conductor. The positive stop between the clamping nut and the connector body limits compression force to a desired maximum level by preventing further movement of the clamping nut toward the connector body. The connector body has an annular wedge surface(33) combined with the flared leading edge of the outer conductor. The threads draws the clamping nut toward the connector body, drives the circular coil spring to exert the compression force that urges the flared leading edge into contact with the annular wedge surface.
