An ink cartridge (5, fig. 4A) is provided capable of being removably held in an ink cartridge accommodation portion simply by pushing in the cartridge (5, fig. 4A) in an insertion direction. The ink cartridge (5, fig. 4A) is mounted on a carriage (4, fig. 2) having a cartridge accommodation portion. The ink cartridge (5, fig. 4A) is provided with a recess (31) formed in a wall thereof. Disposed within the recess (31) is a guiding structure (32) which cooperates with a fixing member (12, fig.3) of said carriage (4, fig. 2) to position the cartridge (5, fig. 4A) correctly within. The guide structure (32) comprises a plurality of slanted surfaces that form a guide path for the fixing member (12, fig.3). The path of the guide structure (32) may be M-shaped. |
