Bitmapped graphics, font and vector form figure data are transformed to an internal gradation graphics data format in a printer by zooming means 1, font representing means 2 and vector representing means 3 and inputted to a figure conserving gradation pixel data generating means 11, where an average gradation value of plural gradation values is determined. A number of figure bits, representing a graphical figure, are associated with each gradation value. By appending these figure bits to the average gradation value, a figure conserving gradation pixel data which represents a pixel with high resolution is generated and can be used in controlling a graphic processor in accordance with the resolution of inputted graphics data, whether a pixel represents an edge of a figure, whether a user wishes to prioritise print quality or print speed or the memory capacity available to the graphic processor. <IMAGE> |
